I do enjoy mesmer a lot (theres a reason why i play it) but lets not pretend there aren't downfalls to playing it, esp in this scenario and its not a big issue for me, but it is valid point raised by the discussion why are the creatures overtuned? I didn't say i was using only AAs and blurred frenzy but I did mention those, because that is what mesmer -aoe killing- rotations boil down to after pulling shit in, casting your ToT and your wells and your phantasms. And doing it felt like a genuine time waster with no other purpose behind it: 'let me just use my skills another 10-20-30-40 times, so we can actually get to another juicy story bit.'ĭoes everything you say have to be a personal attack against me or my skill or the way i like to play? I didn't take a chronometer and didn't count the exact time it took me to kill stuff, the time given was completely thrown out there from the top of my head. It just honestly feels like a genuine timewaster -we dont want to make this story step seem short so lets make all the enemies they fight just have more health.
Now what did they want to achieve? to create a sense of ambush? great, then make it look like an ambush and send enemies at us, but why the hp-spongey ones? you want to make the fights difficult, showing it was a hard deadly ambush? well 3 elites/vets at a time aren't at all difficult. now lets repeat that for all other 9 or however many waves of enemies. but no, I had the 'satisfaction' of getting to see my blurred frenzy repeatedly hitting the same elite 3-4 times before it died, while it does barely anything to me in return. Knowing that if there were 10 or 15 normal mobs per wave instead of 3 elites, I would feel satisfaction of stuff actually dying and actual threat of being attacked by huge amount of enemies. But hated all of it and knew that with other classes I would be more or less two times faster as well probably. And the worst part is I couldn't, because it was last story step and I would have to do that from scratch. But the point is the fights are not engaging, the mobs are sponges that do nothing except have health and mesmer is meh in such a fight.for the whole 15 minutes I was thinking of how much more engaging and fun it would've been if I brought me ele or warrior or necro or engi or ranger. doubt it was longer than 15 minutes to get to the final boss. I think the point is 'long' is super relative.
